Wire
Wire is fundamental to electronics. It is used to carry electronic current, therefore it is important that it is made of a conductor that has a low resistance. Copper is usually used for this reason. Solid wire is a single conductor, while stranded wire consists of two or more braided or twisted conductors. Wire is usually protected by an insulating wrapping of plastic or rubber.

Cable
The difference between cable and wires is that cables have more insulation than normal wire, and is often used to carry high frequency signals (such as coaxial cable for television signals).
